Sec 3 First Continental Congress - Carpenter's Hall, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania September 5, 1774 - October 26, 1774
Second Continental Congress - Following the the fighting at Lexington and Concord a meeting was called in Philadelphia on May 10, 1775 to assemble delegates to the Second Continental Congress.
George Washington - Agricultural chemist George Washington Carver developed crop-rotation methods for conserving nutrients in soil and discovered hundreds of new uses for crops such as the peanut, which created new markets for farmers, especially in the South.
Battle of Bunker Hill - This battle was one of the earliest in the American Revolution. The battle's name is a misnomer because the major part of the engagement was actually fought on Breed's Hill nearby. The place for this battle was in Charlestown, Massachusetts across the Charles River from Boston.
Olive Branch Petition - This document has the distinction, owing to its outstanding importance, of having been given a special designation by historians..... much in the same way as we speak of Magna Charta or the Declaration .....and is referred to generally as the Olive Branch. The reason is not hard to see, for it represents the final effort of the American Colonists to have their conditions ameliorated and the differences between themselves and the Mother Country settled amicably. This in spite of the fact that hostilities had already opened, and action had been initiated at Concord, Lexington and Bunker Hill.
